Indian Navy
Officers commissioned into the General Service (Executive) branch are responsible for the operations and command of naval platforms. After basic training, GS(X) officers can volunteer for the Hydrography Cadre. Hydrographic officers are specialists in maritime surveying, charting the sea floor, and ensuring safe navigation for the fleet using advanced sonar and satellite technology. This entry is a Short Service Commission with an initial tenure of 10 years, extendable by 4 years.
